One-of-a-kind glass pieces made to be loved and passed on.Thank you for visiting.

Meet the Maker

Welcome to Studio MLJ, the curated online shopping experience for award-winning glassmaker Mark Lenn Johnson.

I am a Kentucky-born glassmaker working across three disciplines: glassblowing (hot glass), kiln-formed work (warm glass), and lampworked jewelry (flameworking).

Every piece I create is handmade—shaped by rhythm, fire and patience.

Glassmaking humbles me daily. The process is intense, uncomfortable, and unpredictable. Even when I do everything right, the glass sometimes breaks. That honesty is what draws me in. It’s a collaboration between heat, timing, and intuition—and I’ve learned to love that dance.

Each piece you’ll find here carries its own story. They are one-of-a-kind—designed to bring beauty and intention into your life and to become part of your personal story.

When you purchase my work, you support not only the continuation of the centuries-old craft of glassmaking but my life as a working artist here in Kentucky.

I’m grateful for that, and I hope that, in a world often overwhelmed by chaos and division, my work offers you a moment of respite and that each piece brings light and joy to your world.

Consider this your invitation - an invitation to pause, reflect and find peace within the luminous beauty of glass.
